The short version
- Your conversations, voice recordings and transcripts are stored only on your own phone. We do not save them on our servers.
- To make the app work, your speech and messages are sent securely to our speech-recognition and AI providers, processed to create the transcript, the tutor's reply and the feedback, and then not kept by us.
- When you register, we keep only basic account data, such as your email address, your language settings and your subscription status.
- We never sell your data and we do not use your conversations for advertising.
Who we are
JojoTalk is developed and operated by IT Mapper, based in the Netherlands. IT Mapper is responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

Data we collect
Account data — when you register: your email address, a display name if you choose one, and a secure (hashed) password or the ID from the sign-in service you use (for example Google or Apple).
Settings — your source and target language and app preferences, so the app works the way you set it up.
Subscription status — whether you have an active trial or subscription. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store; we never see or store your card details.
Basic technical data — such as the app version, device type and error reports, used only to keep the app working and fix problems.
Learning progress — such as your streak and saved words, stored on your device.
Your conversations, recordings and transcripts
Conversations with Jojo, voice recordings and transcripts are stored locally on your mobile device. They are not uploaded to or saved on our servers.
While you use the app, your voice and messages are sent over an encrypted connection to our speech-to-text and AI providers so they can be turned into text and analyzed. They are processed only to provide that response to you. We do not keep them, and we do not share them with anyone else.
We do not use your conversations or recordings to train AI models.
You can delete a conversation in the app at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all conversations stored on your device.
Microphone access
JojoTalk asks for microphone permission so you can talk with Jojo. The microphone is used only while you are actively speaking in a conversation. You can turn this permission off at any time in your phone's settings.
How we use your data
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in
- To provide the app: conversations, transcripts, corrections, word explanations and daily words
- To manage your trial and subscription
- To keep the app secure, prevent misuse and fix errors
- To answer your questions when you contact support
Legal basis (for users in the EU/EEA and UK)
We process your data because it is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (contract), because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and working well, and — where required — based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us run JojoTalk, and only as far as needed:
- Speech-recognition and AI providers, to process conversations in real time (not stored by us)
- Hosting and database providers, to store basic account data
- Google Play and the Apple App Store, to handle purchases and subscriptions
We may also disclose data if the law requires it.
How long we keep data
Account data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your account data from our systems within 30 days, unless we are legally required to keep something longer (for example, records related to purchases).
Conversations are kept only on your device, for as long as you keep them there.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings, or by emailing support@jojotalk.com. Conversations on your device can be deleted in the app or by uninstalling it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent.
To use any of these rights, email support@jojotalk.com. If you are in the EU, you can also file a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data sent from the app and protect our systems with appropriate technical and organizational measures. No system is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data.
International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside your country, including outside the EU. When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
JojoTalk is intended for users aged 16 and older. In line with EU rules, we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 without consent from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data without that consent, contact us and we will delete it.
This website
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies and does not require an account. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for a short time for security purposes.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make important changes, we will let you know in the app or on this page and update the date at the top.
